 Ponds

Featured Project

Project: Restored Pond Margins
Location: Jackson, WY
Client: Intermountain Aquatics
Date: 09/2005

Challenge:
Historic fill was left in the flood plain to act as a temporary flood control levee. The levee was removed exposing a groundwater pond with intact shrub and tree vegetation on its shorelines but no herbaceous component. Access was limited due to existing vegetation and there was no outlet control to draw down the pond for planting.

Solution:
Wetland Sod was used to establish wetland vegetation on the pond margins in 6-12 of water. No topsoil was brought in and the Wetland Sod mats were placed directly on gravel and pit-run substrates. The Wetland Sod allowed us to establish a functional fringe in a remote setting with no follow-up maintenance.
